VALENCA 1 (Villa 9)
CHELSEA 2 (Moretti 21 og, Drogba 71)
Ferreira tackled Villa are he made a run on goal, the ball took a deflection off Essien and bounced over Terry and Carvalho, Villa burst into the box and tapped past Cech as he advanced off his line. Seconds after Joaquin wasted a great chance Chelsea equalised. Malouda played a one-two with Drogba, ran between two defenders onto the Ivorian’s pass then fired a centre across the box and Moretti turned the ball into his own net before Joe Cole could. Drogba scored the winner on the break. Makelele hacked away a ball into the Chelsea box, Marchena tried to play it back but hit Cole and made a lame appeal for handball as the midfielder turned away before releasing Drogba with a brilliant pass with the outside of his right foot, Drogba held off Albiol and smashed the ball past Hildebrand. Villa and Silva missed excellent chances to equalise and in the fourth minute of injury Baraja was left unmarked on a free kick but scuffed his shot.

ROSENBORG 0
SCHALKE 2 (Jones 62, Kuranyi 89)
Rosenborg held out for an hour before a failed offside trap left Jones with a one vs one against Hirschfeld and he shot in off the ‘keeper. Kuranyi scored a second on the break. Once again the Rosenborg defence appealed for offside as Kuranyi ran onto a longball out of defence, Basma got back to recover but Kuranyi checked inside before curling the ball into the bottom left corner.
Attendance : 21,361
Assists : Rakatic, Grossmuller
LAZIO 2 (Pandev 32, Pandev 75)
REAL MADRID 2 (Van Nistelrooy 8, 61)
Van Nistelrooy tapped Real into the lead from an in-defendable Sneijder free kick. Lazio pegged the Spanish champions back in their own half and eventually scored a deserved equaliser. Stendardo headed on a fantastic pass over Cannavaro and Pandev, who should have been picked up by Ramos, slammed a left foot volley into the roof of the net. Brilliant finish. Raul TACKLED Mauri and threaded a ball through to RVN and Lazio’s slow centre backs couldn’t catch him, he feigned to shoot, dropping Ballotta onto his 43 year old arse, and lobbed the ball into an empty net. Mudingayi ran through Guti? as he tried to gather from Cannavaro and passed out wide to Pandev, Heinze and Cannavaro backed off as Pandev goaded Heinze with a series of dummies before bringing the ball onto his left foot and beating Casillas with a low drive.
Excellent performance from an inexperience Lazio side. Real looked poor defensively although I imagine they’ll improve when Metzelder and Pepe get back.
Attendance : 80,246
Assists : Sneijder (fk), Stendardo, Raul, Mudingayi
BREMEN 1 (Almeida 32)
OLYMPIAKOS 3 (Stoltidis 73, Patsatzoglou 82, Kovacevic 87)
Bremen put EIGHT goals past Bielefeld on Saturday and looked to be on their way after Almeida put away a rebound. I’m not sure what inspired Olympiakos, who have gone 31 games in this competition without an away win, but they came out all guns blazing in the second half and having been rightly denied by a linesman’s flag they equalised after the dodgy Vander failed to hold from Kovacevic and Stoltidis gobbled up the rebound. Nikopolidis make a brilliant point blank save from the giant Mertesacker before the Greeks took an unlikely lead. A cross came in from the left, Pasta latched onto the clearance with a thunderous right foot shot which caught Mertesacker as it flew in off the underside of the crossbar. Olympiakos completed Bremen and German football’s humiliation with a third goal on the break, Vander failed to hold a shot from Real Madrid reject Raul Bravo and Kovacevic tuned the ball in from a yard out.
German clubs are a laughing stock in Europe. That’s 1 wins out of a possible 6 this season and they would face the possibility of dropping to 10th in the UEFA rankings but for Bayern Munich who I’m sure will go deep in the UEFA Cup.

CELTIC 2 (McManus 62, McDonald 90)
MILAN 1 (Kaka’ 68 Pen)
Hartley whipped in a corner from the left, Dida ran into traffic and flapped at the cross before crashing to the ground, the ball struck McManus and was helped over the line by Gourcuff. Kaka’ equalised from the spot after Naylor tried to hug the Milan captain but Ambrosini spurned his advances. Milan blew two chances to clear a corner and the ball was eventually played back to Caldwell, his tame effort was spilled by Dida and McDonald tapped in the rebound. As the Celtic players ran away to celebrate a fan decided to join them and gave Dida a pat on his neck as he ran past. Dida started chasing after him before turning around and dropped to the floor clutching his face. He was subsequently stretchered off which will only add to his embarrassment.
Hopefully UEFA won’t award Milan the match for the fans stupidity. Milan should be made to sweat qualification for their sorry performance in this match, with all due respect to Celtic. Ancelotti hasn’t been given the vote of confidence yet, that may change after the weekend.
